Why Do You Call Me Lord?

“Why Do You Call Me Lord?”

By Greg King

Jesus asked in Luke 6:46, “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say?”  Jesus said, “He that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved, he that believeth not shall be condemned.” (Mark 16:16) If Jesus would have said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall receive a million dollars, he that believeth not shall be poor” What would you do to receive the money? Would you do it or argue with heavens command. When it comes to the physical, we can see the need, but for some reason when it comes to salvation some want to explain away the truth rather than obey it.

In 1 John 4:1 the word of God says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” You will find those in the world who teach that salvation is by faith alone despite verses like James 2:24. “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” I have heard some religious people make the statement, “Baptism Saves No Man”. In 1 Peter 3:21, “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”

There’s a big difference between believing IN Jesus and believing Jesus. Would He ask you the same question that He asked in Luke 6:46?
