God’s Word (5)

Greg King

Think for a moment. The question of whether the Bible is from God is an either-or question. Either it is what it claims to be, or it is not. If it is not, then it is a fraud, a lie, unworthy of any respect. Logically, no part of it can be trusted. It ought to be exposed for what it is and forever forgotten and destroyed!!

In this series of articles, I am sure I have not answered every question that could be asked, but I have answered sufficiently for any reasonable person who wants to have a confident belief in the Bible. Of course, if you do not want to believe the Bible, then all the reasonable responses I, or anyone else could give, will not satisfy you.

The Bible claims that it will never pass away. It claims to be indestructible (Matt. 24:35; 1 Peter 1:23-25). The Bible has been passionately loved and intensely hated.  It has been protected at the cost of human life and subjected to fervent persecution. In 303 AD Diocletian issued an edict for all churches to be destroyed and all Scripture burned.  Just 25 years later Diocletian was dead and his body decaying as Constantine issues a royal decree that 50 copies of the Scriptures be printed at government expense. The French philosopher Voltaire set out to prove once and for all that the Bible was a hoax and that Christianity would become extinct.  His former home now houses a small printing company that prints Bibles.

I am convinced that those who do not believe the scriptures are those who have never read it carefully. They are not aware of the evidence which supports it as inspired by God. They have not considered the logical implications of simply regarding it as a mixture of fact and fiction! But to those who will read it, I believe that they will find that it has "the ring of truth" to it. That it will produce the faith necessary to believe in Jesus (Rom. 10:17), and through such faith find eternal life (John 20:30-31)!

There is a saying:  "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.” No one can present enough evidence to FORCE someone to accept that the scripture is “God-breathed” if they are determined not to!

What are you determined to do? Accept or deny?
