Believe or Believe In? 2

Believe or Believe In? 2

By Greg King

Jesus told His disciples in John 16:13 that when the “Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth…”  Was Jesus mistaken? Did the Holy Spirit fail in his mission? To those who believe God we realize that all truth has been revealed. Jude speaks of the faith being once and for all delivered to the Saints in verse 3. Obviously Jude understood that there would be no further revelation given from God. Jude obviously believed Jesus when He said what He said in John 16. Also, the writer of Hebrews in chapter one and verses one and two show us as well as the other verses that God has said all that He intends to say. Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” God’s word is plain, simple, and easy to understand. God isn’t the author of confusion, but of peace 1Corinthians 14:33. Man complicates God’s word by injecting their own ideas and theories.

Acts 10:34 tells us that God is no respecter of persons. If God is revealing information to you and not to me, would that scripture be correct? Why would God reveal things to one person and not to another? For those making such a claim I ask for the proof. I can go to God’s word and prove what I believe concerning how God speaks to us today. Should I take your word over God’s? God says, “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” I am more concerned with being in the right relationship with God than I am with finding favor in the eyes of men. Our feelings, emotions, and experiences are not to be our guide when it comes to serving God. Our guide is to be God’s word which “is able to save our souls” (James 1:21). For those making the claim that God is speaking to them directly with a voice I ask, how do you know that it is God and not Satan? God is speaking to each and every one of us today. The message is the same for every individual. It is “the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Romans 1:16

Believing God is just as important as believing in God! Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
