Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
WOW! When you think about what He did for mankind and what He endured while on earth that is an amazing statement. It means that He willingly left Heaven and came to earth to suffer and die knowing that many would reject Him and be lost. Why would He do that? The simple answer is love. But also, it is evidence that He placed a high value on the soul of man. He later stated in Matthew 16:26, For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
What Jesus says is so contrary to what people want religion to be. Our world says the opposite of what Jesus said. Some say that there are many roads that lead to life. Jesus says there are only two paths. One path leads to destruction and one path leads to life. We do not want to talk about how there is a path that leads to destruction. Nor do we want to admit that many are going to find the path that leads to destruction. Jesus says more will be lost than saved. That’s much different than what you hear from those who claim to follow Jesus. Listen to Jesus and make sure you are on the right path. It’s not a matter of being religious but matter of doing what He said! Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?
